The setting is contemporary Japan & Los Angeles. The Jack Jeanne game timeline takes place during their senior year of high school. Post-game, Fumi pursues theater at the prestigious Tamasaka Troupe and Tsuru continues to do motion capture work in both Japan and overseas.

• Tsuru is genderfluid, but prefers presenting androgynously. They have a completely OTT Jeanne/girl-mode "disguise" of overly cute girly kei outfits "for the funsies".
• Fumi dresses very GNC in canon. He talks like a punk off stage, wears very fashionable casual clothing with atypical/unusual silhouettes, and transforms into the most graceful and beautiful Al Jeanne on stage. (The gender envy is so real.)
• Any combo of masculine/feminine gender flip flopping vibes works with these two. I'm completely in love with the JJ 3rd Anniverssary dresses though OH MY GOD.

Tsuru and Fumi first meet at a prestigious theater school and form an intense (albeit one-sided) rivalry at the beginning of their freshman year. A friendship between them never comes to fruition, as Tsuru quietly drops out of the theater program a few months later in pursuit of work overseas. Fumi has far too much on his plate (school performances, family issues) to let this (maybe fleeting crush) shake him up.

Flash forward a few months later. Fumi has continued to outdo himself: he's at the top of his class, performing side-by-side with one of the school's most prolific students of all time. Tsuru, haunted by regrets of dropping out, has a moment of weakness, and drops in on the final performance of the school year.

Big mistake. They proceed to get completely blown away by Fumi and their ex-classmates' performance, along with everyone else in the audience. (Literally a major inciting incident for several other characters in the game.) Watching the overwhelming amount of skill, passion, and artistry unfold on the familiar stage leaves Tsuru absolutely stunned. And incredibly jealous.

Cue a messy attempt on Tsuru's side to reconnect with Fumi. (Read: ambushing Fumi the following day and demanding some sort of face off?? rivalry fight???) Fumi is caught completely off guard by Tsuru's sudden reappearance and demands answers in exchange. Somehow, this works out better than expected. The initial hostilities of their reunion only add fuel to rekindling their rivalry (and feelings). The two end up in a dance-off / dance practice session where the gap between their abilities is still noticeable but narrowing. The two end up talking so much shop together that the events naturally snowball into a dinner date so they can properly catch up.

With Tsuru's continued overseas work looming in the future, the two decide to keep in touch and eventually try long distance dating as a spur of the moment decision. Tsuru makes a habit out of sneaking onto the campus whenever they are in town, pretending to still be a current student.

• Tsuru's acceptance into Univeil's theater program is similar to Kisa/MC's situation. Someone absolutely did pull some strings in the shadows. Their enrollment was only meant to last a single year, but they made the decision to drop out during the summer break.
• They get cast as a Jeanne role for the Newcomer's performance and a Jack for the Summer play. They soooo desperately want to be a Jack role, specifically a Jack partnered with Fumi's Al Jeanne. (TOUGH LUCK, KID.)
• Doesn't fully embrace Jeanne mode until after they drop out. Goes to buy the cutest girly kei outfits "as a disguise" when "on a date" around the town. Proceeds to talk and swear like a sailor as a defense mechanism.
• Their classmates remember them as "kind of awkward/nervous off stage" and "absolutely ruthless on stage". (Guilty for delivering scathing remarks when doing improv. Extremely bad at expressing themselves verbally without a script. WHOOPS.)
• As a member of Quartz 76th term, Tsuru was absolutely on Tsuki's radar of interest on account of resembling Kisa. The two never interacted directly. (Tsuru is completely intimidated by him.)
• Neji in his infinite perception probably clocked something unique about Tsuru's performance in the Newcomer's play, and paid them a complement about it in passing. But the fear of "OH NO this purple wierdo from Amber is onto my secret" probably freaked Tsuru out too much for the compliment to register.
• When visiting Univeil during the game timeline, they totally want to befriend Kisa like immediately. (I know what you are-- no wait even better. I WAS YOU.)
